Northland
Northland and the Far North are the lands of giant kauri trees, sand dunes and endless wild beaches
Northland also dubbed Winterless North because of its mild climate is the northernmost of New Zealand’s 16 local regions. Lying in subtropical lattitudes, this place is a land of rare giant kauri growing tall. The remoteness spot of the final stripe of land stretching out over 80 km where dry land finally meets immense Pacific Ocean features Cape Reinga that has a symbolic part to play as the end of the country. In Maori mythology it is from here that the souls of the dead depart on their journey to the afterlife.
